Why I Can Write What I Write
Some stories feel real because they are born from observation. Others feel real because somewhere behind a character, a writer has recognised something she has seen, felt or lived.
Life has shown me different sides of people and different sides of myself. The beautiful parts, the difficult parts, the moments of trust and the moments that taught me not everyone carries the same meaning of loyalty.
Perhaps that is why different genres can still feel natural to me. Fiction may change its setting, its mystery, its darkness or its hope — but human behaviour remains something I have spent a lifetime observing.
Lived Experience
The Things Life Never Taught Me Gently
Childhood gave me many of the things a child should receive. Later came the ups and downs that life brings without asking whether we are ready.
There were disappointments, broken trust, struggles and moments that tested my strength. I learned that pain does not always announce what it is teaching you. Sometimes you understand the lesson much later, when you realise you are no longer the person who entered that difficult season.
I do not romanticise those experiences. I simply recognise what they gave me: perspective, resilience and an understanding of how complicated a human heart can be.
Behind the Writing
Behind Every Character, There Is a Little Reality
Characters become believable when they are allowed to be human.
People can be kind and selfish, loyal and flawed, wounded and capable of causing wounds. They can say one thing, feel another and still believe their own version of the truth.
I have seen enough contradictions in real life to know that a character does not need to be perfect to be powerful. Sometimes the most memorable characters are the ones who make us uncomfortable because somewhere in them, we recognise something real.
Reflection
I Have Seen Both Sides of People
One of the quiet lessons life leaves behind is that people are rarely only one thing.
I have experienced loyalty and I have experienced betrayal. I have seen kindness, dishonesty, sincerity, hypocrisy and the strange distance between what people say and what they choose to do.
And through all of it, I have tried to honour my own relationships with loyalty. Not because everyone always deserved it, but because the way I love, care and show up is a reflection of who I choose to be.
A Quiet Truth
The One Who Always Listened
There were moments when explaining the pain to another person felt impossible. So I cried it out in solitude.
And in those quiet moments, there was always a connection I could return to — a belief that I was being heard even when there was nobody beside me to answer.
Sometimes that presence felt like a miracle. Sometimes like a friend. Sometimes simply like the certainty that Someone knew what I could not put into words.
Perhaps some of my strength comes from there. Not because life became easy, but because I never truly felt that I was carrying it alone.
